Cluttered Bedroom Before Picture

For this bedroom makeover, the owners wanted a focus wall but were having trouble making a grand statement. At first they were using pictures as the main focal point in the room, but the wall started to feel crowded. I created a design for them that had depth but felt more minimalistic.

To help them make a statement behind their bed, we decided to bring texture to the walls.

I drew up a design for them using the board and batten style trim work. We also added a wreath in the middle of the wall to add a pop of color. We made the lamps smaller and took away as many items as we could to achieve a more minimalistic style.

My clients went hard at work to create the board and batten wall behind their bed. They used 1×3 inch trim to frame out the space, and they added white paint when it was finished.

After construction was complete, I came in and added bedding and pillows from Target to achieve that fluffy look! We used a cream striped duvet cover, gray quilt underneath, and a knotted throw blanket on top. Adding different layers to your bed can really add depth and texture that makes the room look so warm.
